Red Lions Society
1994

In 1991, a batch of Bedan highschool alumni planned of putting up an organization; first, there was an idea of having an organization that would give peace retreats to each batch of incoming freshmen in UPLB.

The group decided to call for an assembly of Bedans and laid out the plans and later tried to elicit suggestions on the type of organization that the group would want to have. After more than two years of planning of the pioneers of the organization, the idea of having a group of people which would respond to the educational needs of those who can’t afford to have one came as one of the organization's foremost possible contribution.

Driven by a strong faith in the Almighty and confidence in their innermost potentials, the pioneers slowly built the foundation of the Red Lions Society - an organization envisioned to be a venue for self awareness and development in order to respond efficiently and effectively to the needs of others whose potentials are yet to be tapped but have meager resources to develop them.

The Lion, which is a significant symbol for the Bedans, represents the members’ STRENGTH and POWER to lead and be a frontliner in helping our less privileged brothers and sisters.

The color Red, signifies LOVE and COURAGE; the Bedans’ love for their work of service and their courage to alter the things that they can change amidst all struggles and trials. And that true love and commitment that they have in their hearts, nourished by a strong faith in God, shall lead them in touching other people’s lives, the way god has touched theirs.
